Rand and Mat reach Caemlyn and take rooms at The Queen's Blessing, the inn Thom told them to find; its keeper remembers him well.
The captured false Dragon is brought through Caemlyn in a cage. Trying to see him, Rand climbs a wall of the palace and falls into the garden beyond it.
In the garden Rand meets the Queen's daughter and son and is brought before Queen Morgase herself, where her Aes Sedai adviser speaks a troubling prophecy about him.
Moiraine, Lan, Nynaeve, Perrin and Egwene reach the inn and the company is together again. Mat meets Moiraine with the dagger he took from Shadar Logoth.
With danger closing in on Caemlyn, the company goes down to a Waygate hidden under the city and into the Ways, a lightless maze of ramps and bridges that leads to distant places.
